My Fridge has iced up

Detail: There is an ice build up on the back of the fridge (inside)
What to do: You need to defrost the fridge by:

  1. Move stock to another fridge
  2. Turn fridge off
  3. Use a hair dryer on low setting to carefully melt the ice away from the cover plate
  4. Gently remove (unscrew) evaporator cover plate
  5. Use hairdryer to remove ice from cold plate
  6. Ensure that ice is removed from behind cold plate as well as this could be hidden from view.
  7. Replace evaporator cover plate.
  8. Turn fridge back on
  9. Replace stock once fridge is down to correct temperature.

You need to investigate why the fridge has iced up. Normally it is because:

  1. There is too much stock, meaning the air is not circulating efficiently.
  2. There is insufficient space between the top of the fridge and the surrounding cabinetry, meaning the refrigerator cannot expunge the excess heat into the surrounding air.
  3. Fan Failure.
  4. Poor product placement.
  5. Or some combination of these.

Please do not hesitate to call Ethicheck for assistance.

My fridge shows a max over 8 degrees.

Detail: The Max displayed is over 8 degrees.
What to do: It is quite acceptable for the fridge to sometimes show a maximum over 8 degrees. This is normally due to slightly longer door opening times, or opening the door during a defrost cycle.

The important issue is whether it is going into ALARM mode, as this will indicate the total excursion time. If it doesn’t alarm it means that the fridge may have been over the range for a short time – but under 10 mins.

If you are experiencing consistently high maximum temperatures, please do not hesitate to contact Ethicheck for assistance
